Voters in California's Marin County, located just north of San Franscisco, overwhelmingly passed a ban on the growing of genetically-modified crops in yesterday's election. But, similar bans were rejected in three other counties by wide margins. The defeats were significant because the counties are in key farming areas. In Humboldt County the language of the ban was so questionable that even anti-GMO forces pulled their support before the vote.
In March this year Mendocino County passed a similar ban.
