But we, the common folk, are being pretty badly hurt by a series of "black swans".
The delta Covid variant has started to hit pretty badly across Europe. This is drag one on the economy.
The euro is getting more and more powerful. Drag two, because ALL prices in Europe, regardless if you are part or not of the Eurozone - Romania is NOT - are firstly calculated in euros. Of course, devaluing own national coin is good to stimulate exports...if you can export anything, since there is a global supply chain disruption.
A LOT of PRICES, not only for energy products, are spiking in the same time. Drag three.
Combine all these drags with a cold winter and Europe, sooner or later, would have to face a MAJOR social explosion...the french gillettes jaunes will be a walk in the park comparing to what is on the horizont.
One of the BIGGEST issues is the TOTAL INACTION BY GOVERNMENTS across the board. It seems to me that many gov officials are either complacent or dead right idiots...because if the economy tanks again there will be no room to hide and no resources to contain a major crisis. Unemployment will start to grow - because firms will have to cut costs not to go bancrupt - and the fury of the europeans will be plainly visible...
We are truly living through dreadful times...Radu Diaconunoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861605.post-17245536115762387162021-09-19T14:47:05.216-04:002021-09-19T14:47:05.216-04:00Strangely I corrected someone else last week with ...Strangely I corrected someone else last week with exactly the same spelling error - so today it's my turnDon19https://www.blogger.com/profile/05955676272366296870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861605.post-971234028327449222021-09-19T11:53:12.803-04:002021-09-19T11:53:12.803-04:00Looks like long-term contracts will subvert the wi...Looks like long-term contracts will subvert the wishes of Americans for affordable energy costs. Canada, in its myopic 'wisdom' over the years, has done much the same with the "free trade" deals with the Excited States and Mexico that allocate our extraction of oil and gas to markets in said States to a given quota in perpetuity. Our 'wise' councillors also submitted to a China deal for 30 years with no recourse if the particular resource becomes untenable to exploit here. Seems neoliberalism will be with us for far too long!!! Unless and until some people come to their senses and abrogate these kind of "deals" that are so detrimental to national populations.
DBtazzerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14421839576705383378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861605.post-53826637981245670762021-09-19T11:29:04.571-04:002021-09-19T11:29:04.571-04:00*despair*despairAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861605.post-469397838093932772021-09-19T10:16:16.436-04:002021-09-19T10:16:16.436-04:00I hang my head in dispair.
