It is not just the oil and gas resources, or the rate of mineral extraction, that bothers me. What the real problem is, is that none of our politicians, religious leaders, or so called experts can see the wood for the trees. We have a population issue and no-one wants to admit it. Every year, even during Covid, 80 million more mouths net, were added to the global population. The population of Germany - each and every year. Worse still the UN estimates are way off. This year we will achieve 8 billion and in 10 years or less you can bet on another billion.

I am not too concerned about climate change, because by the time it really starts to bite we will have totally screwed up our environment. The limits to growth are becoming all to clear. We are at Peak Natural Resources. It is all downhill from now onwards and conflict is enevitable as the race for resources intensifies.Carnotnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861605.post-75438210585669662492022-07-18T08:54:49.351-04:002022-07-18T08:54:49.351-04:00So few comments on such an important subject!

Where else does one go for a sane and serious discussion of our civilization's predicament since The Oil Drum ceased operations? I'll list my favorite blogs in semi-ranked order and below that some blogs I don't read anymore for various reasons. I'd welcome other suggestions for lay readers interested in the climate/energy/population corner we've painted ourselves into.

https://peakoilbarrel.com/
https://dothemath.ucsd.edu
https://yaleclimateconnections.org/topic/eye-on-the-storm/
https://energyskeptic.com/
https://richardheinberg.com/

Deprecated
---------------------------
https://kunstler.com/writings/clusterfuck-nation/
https://ourfiniteworld.com/
https://www.zerohedge.com/
https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/ (I still sometimes check this one.)
https://peakoil.com/
tehodlernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861605.post-7272873507723753552022-07-17T12:33:56.291-04:002022-07-17T12:33:56.291-04:00Note that is there are 1.572 trillion barrels left...Note that is there are 1.572 trillion barrels left and the world uses 30 billion barrels a year, it will all be gone in 52 years. It looks pretty silly to be basing modern civilization on something that is depleting so rapidly.Joe Clarksonnoreply@blogger.com
