By that he implies that no regulation of the energy industry isn't a policy itself, which it is. Does he/she believe that we should have no safety regulations for pipelines or oil refineries or tankers? The industry has been unable to police itself in these areas and often destroyed the property and lives of others through negligence. Is this the policy anonymous favors?

He/she goes on to say that we should have no policy about anything? Does anonymous believe that we should have no policy regarding the containment of infectious diseases,a policy of absolutely no regulation or government public health intervention?

Does anonymous believe that we should have no regulation of the human organ donor system? That would be a policy, but a very abhorrent one. Does he/she believe we should leave it to the marketplace (that is, the highest bidder) to determine who gets the available human organs rather than a system that is based on need and likelihood of success?

Ideologues such as anonymous easily spout simple-minded principles, but the world is far from simple. Complex problems almost never have simple solutions however much ideologues wish they did. And, that's why ideologues make horrible legislators/managers and executives (in business or politics).Kurt Cobbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05330759091950742285noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861605.post-62702720155374910002014-06-17T01:31:37.690-04:002014-06-17T01:31:37.690-04:00WHY should there BE an energy policy, or indeed, A...WHY should there BE an energy policy, or indeed, ANY policy? It must be frustrating though to see how few people understand the situation.I think that this is changing but have only anecdotal evidence to support my view.My wife teaches natural building, cobb(no pun intended) building in particular and holds several workshops that are very well attended throughout the year. Virtually all of these folks are peak oil and other resourse depletion aware but the ignorance of the true situation is astounding. Most don't understand that as you profiled in your essay economics and flow rate are the important parts of the whole equation. The last two workshops though featured several people who grasped this concept through information gathering from sites like yours. Coincidental perhaps but I've also noticed that the number of comments on Gail Tverberg and Ron Patterson's sites have increased greatly in the last year. The two aforementioned as well as Steve Ludlum and some others have through statistics, charts and graphs shown the correlation between flow rate and economics ad nauseum. With your factual, freindly and unhysterical journalism have done the same and yet a still abysmally small percentage of folks seem to catch the drift.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05188670785131101594noreply@blogger.com
