We will need a shock to move us to action. A shock sooner is better than later. We can adjust to a changing reality due to our market based economy. Those who do not adjust to change get quickly washed out. Government adjustment to change would likely just cover up the problem as long as possible. Real high oil prices will force us to adjust. A high tax on oil would help us move to the new reality before a crisis, but that is not going to happen given that we have the best elected representatives that money can buy.

Bring on the crisis it will be good for us.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15062677478442629789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8861605.post-73348845223047840982007-04-11T05:00:00.000-04:002007-04-11T05:00:00.000-04:00Great, Kurt! That is exactly along the lines of argumentation I always use with sceptics.

However, I find that a house burning down is very concrete and imaginable. Everbody has an image in his head how this would look like.

The consequences of peak oil, however, are still very abstract and unconcrete and vague. They can't relate to it. They don't know what it would mean for them personally.

Maybe Hollywood should come up with a movie to show how it would look like on a personal level?

Cheers,

DavidysonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
